David J. Vinyard is an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at Louisiana State University. David received a B.S. in chemistry and agriculture, and an M.S. in chemistry from Missouri State University. He earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from Princeton University in 2013 with Charles Dismukes and was a postdoctoral research associate at Yale University from 2013 to 2016 with Gary Brudvig. David’s research focuses on biophysical and bioinorganic mechanisms of photosynthetic water oxidation. In the lab, he can usually be found working in the dark with cold samples and big magnets.
